The James and von Neumann-Jordan type constants and uniform normal structure in Banach spaces
Recently, Takahashi has introduced the James and von Neumann-Jordan type constants. In this paper, we present some sufficient conditions for uniform normal structure and therefore the fixed point property of a Banach space in terms of the James and von Neumann-Jordan type constants and the Ptolemy constant. Our main results of the paper significantly generalize and improve many known results in...
متن کاملSome remarks on James–Schreier spaces
The James–Schreier spaces Vp, where 1 6 p < ∞, were recently introduced by Bird and Laustsen [5] as an amalgamation of James’ quasi-reflexive Banach space on the one hand and Schreier’s Banach space giving a counterexample to the Banach–Saks property on the other. The purpose of this note is to answer some questions left open in [5]. Specifically, we prove that (i) the standard Schauder basis f...
متن کاملJames Maps and £ „ Ring Spaces
We parametrize by operad actions the multiplicative analysis of the total James map given by Caruso and ourselves. The target of the total James map J=2jqC(R",X)-^\[QDq(R",X) <7>0 is an En ring space and j is a S„-map, where 6„ is the little n-cubes operad. This implies thaty has an n-fold delooping with domain 2"X It also implies an algorithm for the calculation of j and thus of each (jq) on m...
متن کاملcompactifications and function spaces on weighted semigruops
chapter one is devoted to a moderate discussion on preliminaries, according to our requirements. chapter two which is based on our work in (24) is devoted introducting weighted semigroups (s, w), and studying some famous function spaces on them, especially the relations between go (s, w) and other function speces are invesigated. in fact this chapter is a complement to (32). one of the main fea...
15 صفحه اولA Note on James Spaces and Superstrictly Singular Operators
An elementary lemma is used in order to show that the natural inclusion Jp → Jq of James spaces is superstrictly singular for p < q. As a consequence, it is shown that an operator without nontrivial invariant subspaces constructed by Charles Read is superstrictly singular.
